Mali beads are made by hand working with charcoal black clay found in Western Africa. The clay is collected with the hills around Mopti and Kati, then damaged down into compact pieces. The clay is then ground into powder. From time to time pieces of previous, broken pottery are extra to the powder to improve the power with the clay.Do it yourself E
